Let me put the lessons of the day first this time because I feel that it is important for people to understand this and I wish that I could tell the whole world so that others don't get hurt.
Lesson/Realisation #2 - Don't ever expect anything from anyone in life and you will never be disappointed.
So why am I writing this now? Well let's just say that this week has been the typical week from hell which no one would have wanted to swop out with me for. A piano exam that went badly, a want to be honest ending in hatred and sudden misfortune (funny story actually I might add another post about that) and then simply leaving empty handed...
I won't bore you with the story of how I didn't get a position on my school's leadership council for my final year. Really, that doesn't phase me in the slightest and I absolutely don't care. However, I have to admit that I really didn't think that I would walk away with nothing.
Expectation is extremely dangerous and anyone who says otherwise has clearly never been hurt before. All I left with was exasperation bordering on rage... (yes, unfortunately I have a temper) but luckily it wasn't only bad vibes that came from this.
After an hour long phone call with my best friend Clo, I finally managed to calm down and see both sides of the issue, sure I didn't have some title that's just as good as the minuscule badge but what the disappointment gave me was flare. Flare to become more than just someone under a title. It gave me the flare to rise to bigger and better places and for all of you out there, disappointment should fuel you, not drain you.
Just as a note to all of my readers - Hope, dream and have ambitions but don't expect anything, this way happiness will always favour you.
C'est Minyon!
"Living life with flare and passion is what I love to do. Food, Music, Books and the little things in life are what make everyday worthwhile."

Tasteless Food - Non Merci
Ever since I can remember, I have always adored food but not in a "oh that's nice" way, more in a "first love of my short little life" way. My family and I used to eat out more than anything (partially because my dad is scared that my mom will make tuna pasta with bacon sauce again - now that story deserves it's own post). Bottom line - I know good food when I taste it.
So lately I have become increasingly disappointed with the quality of food that I've been experiencing in restaurants and I'll tell you about my tasteless food epiphany. In Johannesburg a new little place always flares up and then suddenly dies down and I figured out why! Every place always appear to have this amazing new and innovative menu and you think: "Aw man this is absolutely fantastic." Recently, it was me behind the "new and innovative menu" at this cute new place in Parkhurst. So what happened? I ordered pasta and the sauce was exactly the same as a restaurant that I went to a few weeks earlier about 60 km away and by exactly I me even the peppercorns looked the same.
As you can imagine I was quite disgusted and decided to do a little digging on the matter. I was shocked when I discovered that most restaurants buy precooked sauces, precooked pasta and even precooked meats! Very few places still make their own things and that to me was astounding. No wonder everything is so tasteless wherever I go and that is definitely not for me! Non Merci!
Tasteless food #1 - precooked = disgustingly tasteless

Mes Voyages
Another thing that I love, is to travel. I could go on forever about how much I adore Italy. In April, I was lucky enough to go to Rome, Florence and Venice and I came back with some amazing photos which I would love to share with you all. This one speaks for itself.
Destination #1 - Colosseum
Les Petits Choses
So I have decided that an introduction is most certainly in order.
Firstly, I'm partially French residing South African and my name is Minyon (Not Mignon for pronunciation purposes), hence the cute little title up there (excuse the pun).
In Les Petits Choses I'm going to give you a little insight into my daily routines - those tiny things that we miss right? Right.
So as promised here it is. I often feel that these Petit Choses that make everyday so laughable, pass us by. For example: I was terribly late for my Maths class this morning and as a result I nearly fell flat on my face whilst running UP the stairs. All I could think was "I'll laugh about it later," well it's been a fair amount of time and yes; now I am laughing. See what I mean. I find that we take things way too seriously sometimes, I most certainly do. When I finally arrived in class - the teacher wasn't even there. Shall I say "Story of my life" or would that be too cliché... let's stick to irony rather.
So lesson/realisation #1 - I've mastered the art of falling up stairs with class.
